  • Possibly because atheists target Christians a lot?
  • They don't really understand us. They refuse to listen, really listen. I think they think they'll go to hell or something if they even TRY to hear us out. Oh well...it's cool with me.
  • It is my sad experience that my fellow-christians get a lot more upset about 'gays'....even when said gays are in a lot of cases probably sitting in the same church as they are if truth be known... Atheists - I respect them for the depth and determination of their belief that there is no god. I don't feel threatened by it - because how in heck can one be threatened by someone who is up front and genuine about what they are? : )
  • Maybe because to some of them, atheism is completely against what they believe in.
  • I've discussed this with two good friends who are Christians. They agreed that until they became friendly with me they had thought that all athesits were immoral, and would not have become friends with me if they'd known I was an atheist. One of these ladies told me, "I'd never have dreamed you were an atheist - you're the most moral person I know!" Perhaps this is a reason that SOME Christians target atheists - the erroneous assumption that atheism = immorality. I do not find that I am a frequent target of Christians, however. It's quite rare.
  • I am not sure that they do AR you are somewhat guilty of over generalizing! I grant that some of the more vocal ones do but as a representative of that "awful" community I can say that I target (if that is the right terminology) all who wish to discuss faith with me! I will preach openly and publicly but only discuss with those who either question or comment on my view as wel, as answering their questions! Thanks for the opportunity to explain how I belive the silent majority of Christians operate!
  • I honestly dont 'understand' atheism. The reference points I use to make my thought associations are different. I am comfortable believeing in God/god and Jesus. I am sometimes ashamed of of others who profess similar beliefs to mine when seeking to denigrate others by 'targeting' them and their beliefs. It simply shows a childish ignorance of the nature of growth. I for one welcome it when my beliefs are challenged. It gives me cause to either strengthen or expand my paradigm. On a more personal note my most enjoyable and challenging questions usually come from 'atheists' 'witches' etc... Thank you... Your insights are refreshing...
  • they are afraid of the fact that they might be wrong about existance, and the universe.
  • If two Christians order pizza, they can sit down and we can discuss (or argue) about which toppings are the best combinations while we satisfy our hunger. If a Christian and an atheist want to go out to eat and one likes pizza and the other says pizza is not food, both of you will probably stay hungry as you discuss (or argue) about two diametrically opposed concepts. So it's pretty common for Christians and Atheists to clash at the beginning---and constantly..
  • 2-13-2017 Sad to say, it's because they haven't learned what they claim to believe. When I was an atheist and people would try to get me saved, I would ask them "Why should I want to be saved?" They didn't know! I got saved when I met a little group of people who had actually studied the bible and knew what they were talking about. It's a lot simpler than what strangers tell you.
