  • The term "masterpiece" is very subjective. I wouldn't put that movie in the same category as the Sistine Chapel, but Reservoir Dogs is certainly an excellent movie. If you didn't enjoy it, that's fine--to each their own, right? But if you're curious as to why there's so much hype about it, it's usually coming from fans of Quentin Tarantino and his intellectual humor. This humor isn't necessarily always related to the overarching plot line that you laid out in your question, but is sprinkled throughout the movie in anecdotes and sub-stories that may or may not be related to other films he has written/directed. Fans of Tarantino will agree, if you pay close attention to the minutia details throughout Reservoir Dogs, Four Rooms (in which he was one of 4 writers/directors for one of the "Four Rooms" in the movie), Pulp Fiction, (and possibly Kill Bill), there are elements and storylines that overlap. Not only that, but his "macabre sense of humor", as wikipedia puts it, reaches out to those with similar interests in death and the occult. Additionally, the soundtrack is a blast (for those that enjoy his selection).
  • If you didn't like it you didn't like it...personally I loved the movie. It's cerebral. The tensions between people and the way things change rapidly at given points make it interesting, as well as the tension of knowing this guy's undercover and one slip of the tongue or hesitation could give him away. Edit: My wife didn't like it either. It may be a gender thing, for the most part. I DO know some females who loved it too though.
  • It's not a masterpiece and I've never personally heard anyone say it was. Why is it so great though? The story, the twists, the characters, the dialogue, the mood, the acting, the surprises, I could probably think of more.
  • It's great. It's got the whole super 70s weekend thing going on and the ear slicing to 'Stuck in the Middle' by Steeler's Wheel was awesome! I thought it was good in typical early QT fashion, the actors over-acted to somewhat awkward dialogue, but for some reason, I think that's great.
  • Hi! Tookie, I love that movie, I think its the charachters, their personalities, and actions. They just are so, ummm, I guess I want to say , real. Not real as in everybody real, but real in their odd frames of mind... I dont know if this makes it more cloudy, or clear for you...
