  • Vodka is just ethanol distilled from a source of sugar. Wheat is just a type of grain, so... Anyway, Absolut Vodka is made from wheat. Smirnoff, which is one of the most popular brands, is made from corn. Potato vodkas are typically more expensive brands, not because potatoes make better vodka, but because potatoes are more difficult to ferment properly. Since virtually none of the source material makes it through the distillation process, it doesn't matter what the source material is, nearly as much as it depends on what the distillation process is.
