In box ... In the Torah it forbids the ingestation of blood, even symbolically, for life is in the blood. Yet, in the NT Jesus says that a follower has to drink wine as his blood, and break and eat bread as his body, (which catholics deem as the real thing) does this not go against the Torah, and if not, why and what is the purpose of this act?

No, eat His flesh and drink His blood is not to be taken literally. The passage refers to have faith and abide by the scriptures. Matthew 4:4 "But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." 1 John 5:8 "And there are three that bear witness in Earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one." John 6:63 "It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."

⭐️Creamcrackered I still missed the point Jenny, but it did spur me to go on biblehub since you highlighted the need for multiple verses, So thank you. -
𝘑𝘦𝘯𝘯𝘺 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 ⭐ The point here is easily understood meaning, eating Jesus' flesh and drinking His blood is a metaphor. That is why the verses I added speak of what exactly is the bread and blood.
