  • Romans 12:21 "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." In contrast to good, which is beneficial, evil describes all that is harmful to man. We receive good from God and evil from the hand of Satan. Before God's involvement in our lives, we were “dead in trespasses and sins” and “by nature the children of wrath” due to Satan's influence. Ephesians 2:1,2 “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air…” By accepting Christ, a person receives the spirit of God within and can accomplish good works for God. Ephesians 2:10 "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." An in-depth Biblical study reveals that there are three types of evil. All evil is one or a combination of unproductive evil, harassing evil, or destructive evil. As we carry out the good works God has prepared for us, our strength is in Him, and we can endure all adversity. Ephesians 6:10,13 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord... that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."
