In Washington State it is 20K in insurance and you have to fork it over before you climb. This is because some hot dog and his date got lost while hiking in Mt. Rainier. It took 4 rescuers 5 days to find them. Some of the rescuers died too. Ever since then you have to carry insurance and gps to climb Mt. Rainier, but nobody has been lost since then. 😉😊😍 Its no joke.

Linda Joy Great idea! Especially the gps. I'm constantly amazed at the advances in technology!

I guess I'd have to just die. Its way cheaper and I'm ready. Which leads to point 2, I'd have never made it anyway, and wouldn't have attempted unless I was drugged! I would have to legally argue that I was not the one who called them, and I'm sorry but "you can't get blood from a turnip", "silk from a sow's ear" or extra money from Social Security. It is written. So they will have to "follow the money" and it ain't here!

Even here on the East Coast, we get underprepared and unprepared hikers every year stranded on our mountain peaks. I like the idea of paying a deposit, but the rescue crew is probably not going to feel great about staying at home because the idiot who was too ignorant to assess the threat level well enough was also too ignorant to prepay for rescue insurance.

If you get rescued in Australia. site Tony Bullimore the Australian tax payers spent $6 million rescuing him 25 years ago he paid for none of it. As far as majouirty of Australians are concerned we couldn't of cared if he died .Another rich user .
