What was extremely offensive about the Zoot Suit outfit during the WW2 era?
I was watching a PBS documentary about the Zoot Suit Riots on television. I see nothing wrong with a Zoot Suit outfit in comparison with today's society of young men with no class wearing pants down their arse, ripped jeans, punk rocker styles and so on. Maybe I'm missing something here.

It wasn't the suits in themselves. It was about the amount of material that was used in making them. The riots took place during WW2 when rationing was being practiced. Wearers of the suits were accused of being unpatriotic and were attacked as a result. It was a big issue back then. Although today, we might view it as "petty", it compares with the racial backlash that takes place whenever a high-profile event occurs such as the George Floyd episode.
