Are Desk Pens used for anything other than Decoration?

I can't imagine anyone using a desk pen for anything else. Why would you use it if you had a regular pen? They always need refilling and they leak easily. Do you use a desk pen for anything.

I seldom use any pen or pencil for that matter anymore. But I can see the advantage of having it chained to the desk. People are always walking off with the pen.
