oh hell yes. they are organized and tenacious. Leaf cutter ants, termites, bees, wasps, yellow jackets, dung beetles and army ants to name a few. If they were our size they would rule the world.

Insects are about as smart as your smartphone: that is, while insects learn and react to stimuli, their reactions are largely preprogrammed and the extent of their independence is limited mainly to actions of self-preservation or defense of the colony. Worker bees do not kill and replace their queen because they are rebellious, rather it is because they detect a drop in pheromone signals from the queen indicating the queen's lack of fitness, thus their programming tells them it's time for a new one. They have no choice.
