  • It's usually credited to John Mitchell & Martin Cooper of Motorola in the early 70s, although a Finnish inventor filed a patent for a mobile telephone device in 1917. If you're looking for a genuine Soviet invention look up the "Great Seal Bug" (AKA "The Thing"), a listening device invented by Leon Theramin in the 1940s, considered a predecessor of RFID technology.
