A friend of mine did exactly that. She rescued an injured crow, and gave it a safe place to heal up and the bird chose to stay with her after it was well again. After a year or so, a neighbor decided to turn the woman in for keeping the crow. Calif wildlife authorities came and gave my friend a citation that she had to go to court over, and they took the crow and euthanized the poor animal. Simply because it had been tamed . It seems all the wildlife belongs to the state of CA and the state has the power of life and death over the wild things too.
