Maybe later. But for now I'll give you this: Old movie stars dancing to uptown funk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1F0lBnsnkE I still laugh every time I watch it!

Guess none of the seven or so people around here listen to this stuff too much. I've done searches around the internet, but everyone seems to have a totally different idea of what constitutes "funky." People are suggesting stuff like Talking Heads, Phish, Dr. John, Aretha Franklin... to me, all of those are "almost" what I'm looking for.

Linda JoyThere are music apps that look for songs you might like based on your choices. I think Pandora is one, but you probably already know about those. There are more than 7 people here. I could name 20 off the top of my head. And there are even more voyeurs. But if you want a lot of responses to an obscure question you might want to try AskReddit. I hear they have over a million users.

bostjan the adequate 🥉Yeah, I've tried those apps. While they seem to be alright recommending rock music, they always fail to come up with good funky recommendations. Maybe I fed the app the wrong data. I think it comes down to how loosely "funk" is defined, though. If I tell the app that I like "post-sweatercore lo-fi retro-tronic indy punk rock" it can parse that into a group of bands that form a sub-sub-sub-sub-genre of punk rock by ticking boxes and filtering results. When I say I want some "old school funk," though, with some "stanky bass lines and infectious grooves," it's like no one can really define that with any set of words outside of the genre's own jargon.

Linda JoyYou're being too picky. I still just use an old fashioned radio I got at the thrift store most of the time. The apps choose music based on your thumbs up and thumbs down ratings when they play a song

bostjan the adequate 🥉You won't hear anything like that on the radio where I live! LOL
