  • You left out part of the quote. Lincoln was not advocating such servitude, he was decrying it. "It is the same spirit that says, 'You work and toil and earn bread, and I'll eat it.' No matter in what shape it comes, whether from the mouth of a king who seeks to bestride the people of his own nation and live by the fruit of their labor, or from one race of men as an apology for enslaving another race, it is the same tyrannical principle." --Abraham Lincoln, October 15, 1858 debate with Senator Stephen Douglas
  • Off topic a bit. I have a kitchen sign that reads: What takes me two hours to cook should take you more than two minutes to eat.

I know the feeling! I used to cook all day long at my job then come home and cook some more! I once cooked a $900 shift at KFC by myself, served a $1300 shift at Waffle House by myself and at Subway I worked consecutive 36, 34, and 26 sandwich hours by myself! And I was a single parent through it all! My mom had a plaque that read 'Come in, sit down, relax, converse. Our house doesn't always look like this, sometimes it even WORSE! Roaring posted a question about tee shirt and bumper sticker slogans. Maybe you should post a question about favorite plaques and posters.

Lincoln was a Republican, Douglas a Democrat. Yeah, yeah, the parties essentially switched places.

"The Big Switch" is a liberal story to cover up Democrats voting AGAINST every civil right legislation, right up until LBJ said, "We'll have those niggers voting Democrat for the next 200 years," and pushed through the civil rights legislation. But actually, it all started back in the 30's under FDR and the New Deal, even though FDR designed it to exclude blacks. So, the black vote was bought with the "scraps of the New Deal." He received less than 1/3 of the black vote in '32, but 75% of the black vote in '36. They stayed at 75% until LBJ pushed his "New Society" agenda at the blacks to get even more votes.

Yeah that big switch with the dixiecrats was one person. Democrats started the KKK, BOTH TIMES! Owened every one of the 4 million slaves that were owned at the start of the civil war and pushed through every piece of legislation that prevented blacks from having the rights already guaranteed them in the constitution, and then acted like it was some sort of gift when they finally put through the civil rights act and the right for blacks to vote which was already guaranteed in the constitution! And they've been voting democrat since the 30's because of the trickle of handouts the dems give them to buy their votes but they only give them enough to keep them dependent while lining their pockets and robbing from the taxpayer!

The democrats have hoodwinked the uninformed voters into believing that it's the Republican party that is trying to keep them down, when it's the democrats that have been doing it for years. They count on voters being ignorant.
