  • funny you should ask this,,,,,,,years ago I read an article about this very thing!! it said that something about our taste buds really DO make stuff you eat upside down taste better........makes the food better because??? I have no idea.......but from time to time to do eat stuff upside down and it does seem to taste a little better....... so there really IS something to this, altho' I wouldn't do it in public! LOL

My thought was a little more logical. And I've never heard of the study it's just something that occurred to me. When I build an hors d'oeuvre or snack on a cracker I turn it salt side down and then build because that way when you put it in your mouth the salt is next to your tongue and you can taste it better than if it's covered up with other stuff. And most things with icing or frosting taste better if you eat them up side down. At least to me they do.

Lol! I've never heard of pea and ham soup. What kind of peas are in it?
    • Linda Joy
I'm imagining that in a white sauce for some reason. Though I've only ever made pea soup with dry (usually split) peas and I've never used a white sauce with them.
  • When I buy a make your own salad at a salad bar (to go) I like to start with the top ingredients in the to go box and top them off with the salad. when I get home if can just flip the to go box over into a larger bowl and everything is perfect. It is easier that trying to coax the salad out of the container and not mess up the layers.

That's a really good idea! Though I don't usually buy salad from a salad bar, it would also be useful in other situations I'm sure I'll use that idea in the future!. Thanks boo!
  • 8-10-2017 ?? I don't even know what you are talking about!

Yeah get that a lot! I don't think like normal people! lol. I'll try to explain: When I build an hors d'oeuvre or snack on a cracker I turn the cracker salt side down and then build because that way when you put it in your mouth the salt is next to your tongue and you can taste it better than if it's covered up with other stuff. And most things with icing or frosting taste better if you eat them up side down so the frosting is next to your tongue. At least to me they do.

That is a wonderful explanation. No such thing ever occurred to me!

So do you think you'll be eating your cracker upside down next time just to give it a try?
    • Jewels Vern
Uh, ... No. I eat the unsalted crackers.
    • Linda Joy
Good choice! Though I'm sure you know no crackers are truly unsalted they just have unsalted tops. Still any reduction in sodium is a good choice!
  • Pineapple upside down cake. But then it tastes pretty good right side up as well.
    • Linda Joy
      Good example! Thank you.
  • That's a sex 69 joke, isn't it?
