Do you think we could get all your hair into a space helmet ?

A space helmet shouldn't be any problem. A hard hat is a little more tricky what with the suspension and all.
  • I've heard of building a tether elevator, but they aren't quite sure how.

I've heard of several ideas, but they are all lost on me. If the world is constantly turning, I don't see how we could possibly attach it to anything outside our atmosphere.

We could attach it to a synchronous space platform, where you would transfer to the next segment, which might be a shuttle. Still, there's that little problem of making a tower that tall which could support its own weight.

That's about the only way I could see it being done, but I keep coming back to the idea that the platform at the end of the elevator would be traveling at such a tremendous speed and would a shuttle be able to dock with it ?

I believe graphene would solve the strength / weight issue connectivity is a bigger issue that actually has already been solved with the use of shuttles.

Probably the best way to get TV reception up there, eh.
