my college is having a bone marrow drive next wk. I thought of going there and registering. I dont have a job so its not like i have anything better to do with my time. I heard you have to be under 60 to do it, what kinds of rules do they have and what health problems can stop you from donating? I dont have hips, got implants but i heard they can get the bone marrow from something else, i also heard they fly you out if you have to go elsewhere for it, who pays the hospital bill, im on medicaid but dont know if they would pay it, do you get to meet the person you donate it to? If i go register how soon do you think they would call me to do it? Im not afraid of needles and it wouldnt be my first hospital stay either. I never get to help people out cause i cant get a job so i never get to be around people much to help them. Im kind of curious to see if i would be a match. what if i all of a sudden got a job? would the job let me take time off to do it?just wondered about all this since ive never done it before, this is the first time ive seen anyone do a bone marrow drive in my life. wish i had thought of doing this sooner. wonder how many times a person can do that.
