  • I never heard of any child swallowing a soda can tab. But if drunk enough even an Adult could swallow one! ROFL! +5 keithold! I will watch this question!
  • It is not just a risk for children. My boyfriend always pulls the tab off an aluminium can and plays with it in his mouth. I am always telling him to get it out. one day he swallowed it! and he coughed and spluttered and ran out side. it hurt him! hasnt taught him tho, he still does it. He got one stick inbetween his teeth not long ago. i had to get some tweezers to try to rip it out! silly boy!
  • I suspect there is some risk that it will be swallowed but the tab in its current incarnation will pass through the system with little or no trouble.
  • Putting something metal into your digestive track is never a good idea. #1 stomach acids are powerful and can begin to eat away at weak metals such as aluminum thereby leaching unwanted chemicals into your system that can take awhile to leave your body. The second issue for kids is that their digestive tracks may not be a great enough size that it can fit a soda tab through all sections. If a piece of metal were to become stuck it would require immediate surgery to remove the soda tab. Soda tabs are also not very sanitary in most cases. One should wash the tops of soda cans before they drink the soda just like fruit. The most critical issue though is that it may not look like it, but soda can tabs do have a few cutting edges on them, and they have many more if bent in any way. This can cause interal bleeding and serious damage to one's intestines leading to lifetime degistive problems.
  • Not high IF you're in the practise of pouring the drink into a glass/cup and throw the can away immediately. I hate drinking from cans and cringe at the thought of cuting my top lip off if I have no other choice than to drink from one.
