  • I haven't been able to find a definitive answer, but it seems anectotal that budgies have poorer night vision than parrots. they appear to prefer fluorescent mates because of light sensitivity.(http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/1741099.stm) Sorry can't be of more help.
  • AWWWWWWWWWWWWW They are so cute. Every bird can see vaguely in the dark, but not enough to fly. I have 5 Cockatiels and I cage them at night, so they dont get hurt. During the day is fine to let them play about, not at night. NEVER cover them, it scares them. Put him in a cage, and leave a night light on, that is what I do..
  • I was letting Melon into her cage when it was dark and she didn't notic it was her cage so i had to put her all the way in. And my other one Kirby he doesn't fly away from me when I try to catch him when its dark.
  • Day time birds, like parakeets, don t' see well in the dark as they don't need to. When they are disturbed at night, they get very panicky as they can't see well enough to say whether it is friend or foe.
