  • People were making jokes about him long before he died - some people, myself included, see humour in everything. The fact that he has died should not negate people from having a sense of humour - perhaps they should give him a day off out of respect but you cannot prevent people from having a laugh at the expense of someone who provided so much joke material. Insensitive maybe but I am not disgusted!
  • I will not ever make jokes of someone's passing. I really enjoyed his music when he was still what he was, a handsome young black man with a lovely voice. But when he turned himself into some kind of circus act and molested little boys, I was sickened by him. I can't even enjoy his early stuff anymore. I really don't care how much talent he had now. I had enough training at my job on how sex offenders work to recognize what he'd done. If the jury had the training I had, he'd probably have died in prison years ago.
  • I think the jokes are tacky and in poor taste. They don't make me laugh. I don't believe that mourning should be expected, but at least people could show something vaguely resembling respect for the dead.
  • People where already making jokes about him while he was alive, what difference does it make now?...
  • The issue wasn't jokes - Jackson had a lot of that. You probably meant the comments of ertin people on here who were happy about what happened. This issue is not if he was a great artist or even an artist at all. It wasnt even if he was a molestor or if he was innocent. The isssue is that people cheered and were happy that he dies saying that beause he was molester (slander), then they was happy he were dead. And it was the same Rae who wrote numerous posts about it. Nobody cares if you want controversy to make points. But this person rally thinks its fine to hate others and be happy they died because of a crime they maybe committed. Guilty or not, if you happy about that, then you have a lot in common with bad people because when the plot for Hilter not worked in 1944, they arrest men involves, send them to the People's Court for kangaroo trial and then hanged them on piano wires - but there was a video tape made and sent to a certain Adolf Hilter who later sat down to enjoy it. They were guilty of onspiracy to assasinate Hiter, the Fuhrer. Did that justify Hitler getting enjoyment out of watching their slow agony torture and death? Woud you have been happy for that too? Or maybe you enjoyed the Saddam video. Yes he was guilty, but that's not issue. Torture and murder was bad when he did it and when it happen to him too. It was selective punishment of politial enemies, not justie. No one likes what he did, but hates the thing he did. So why do the same thing to him? Now you on his level. Remember he was tyrant? that one of many reasons used to invade. And guss what? Who mourns the 1 million dead? This person maybe was happy about that too. Even if Jackson was guilty then would that justify cheering & being happy now hes dead? Calling him molestor do not justify being happy. But then agin, Hitler and others don't need justification anyway. They do it anyway.
  • Although a great performer, Jackson isn't revered like other well known artists who have passed because of his freakish appearance, odd behaviors, and alleged child molestation. These jokes, many of them well-deserved, started years ago. He made himself into a joke. His passing isn't going to change anyone's opinion of him, even if it is callous.
  • I cant act like he was perfect, their are parts of Micheal Jackson that I do not like, yes he was a great entertainer, but that does not mean I have to put him on a pedestal.
  • The jokes started long before he died. I people didn't respect him when he was alive, why should they respect him when he's dead? He doesn't know and he doesn't care, he's dead.
  • i think its stupid! people just seen him as a child molester which he was not guilty! and people just are freaking stupid hope when they die they make jokes about them >:} his music was the best!!!!!!!
  • I think the media has really overblown his importance. He certainly hasn't set any major standard musically OR performance-wise. He's just one more dead star. Let it go.
  • R.i.p mike thats all i got to say he came into my town for court for that everyone was with him and he wasnt found guilty
  • I agree with you totally.
  • I don't think that anybody should joke at the expense of other people, dead or alive.*+++++*
  • "One of the greatest performing artists of all time"? Really? Most, like me, don't share that opinion of him, and will always just be a corpse who gets way too much attension. Nothing more, nothing less.
  • Shit I'm still learning how to moon walk..
  • Um, no, no, and no in reference to your points. I feel for his family. That is about it. Granted, all the 'Micheal's getting raped by Satan in Hell!!!' jokes are outta line (sometimes it's just too soon). But other than that the man brought it on himself with his bizarre behavior. To those of you who aren't his family or even friends and are actually mourning: I can only hope the tears extinguish the stars of fanaticism that sparkle in your eyes.
  • I think your being oversensitive a bit all celeberties put their life in the public eye by their choice and people are gonna make jokes about them and with the constant media coverage even a person who didnt like him much cant get him off their mind . he was made fun of when he was alive and people will still make fun celeberties when their dead if you was a family member i could see you being so sensitive but as famouse as he was he still put his pants on one leg at a time and i bet as he did when he was alive he didnt care who joked about him he went on and did his thing .Sorry if it offends you .Its nothing personal
  • I personally think it is aweful to make fun of the dead and jokes about them. I don't particularly care for his music or his videos. I think that putting him on a pedestal was stupid. Recognizing him as the greatest whatever....is crazy too. He was just a human being just like all of us....yet people have made an idol out of him. If he was a genius....why did he die $400 billion in debt???? I think he was very unwise and a very sad person who was used by his family to make money and now they are all sad because the money maker...notority crowd gather...is now gone. That whole family has issues....as we all do....but I think they love the attention....that to me is so so sad. So...I am sad for his family but in reality....he is no longer in pain.....and he is one person who seemed to have alot of it. Why do you think he was always drugged up on pain killers? The pain he suffered couldn't be diminished with the pills he took....
  • I have no interest in Michael Jackson as a performer, but I have been rather disturbed by the way people have made some exceptionally nasty comments and jokes so soon after his death. He had a life that was tormented in many ways, and I think we should all give him the dignity of respect, rather than make ourselves feel superior by running him down.
  • C'mon, it's not like the guy was revered or something. He was freakish by any standard. He changed himself from a handsome African American man with a great smile into what appeared to be an ugly white female. His nose fell off. Neverland had to be the creepiest place on earth. And let's not forget dangling the baby out the window and the one year super weird marriage to Lisa Marie Presley. In all the years I heard about him, I never once heard anyone say "oh, he's normal, it's just the media." He wanted to star in a movie at the height of his fame, (this was before his weirdness went into overdrive.) but no studio would touch him. He already had a reputation as a pedophile. As for setting a standard in music? What standard? Who did he influence? How does he compare to say, Ray Charles?
  • I've heard he's going to be recycle into plastic carrier bags, so that kids can still dangerously play him! :|
  • I'm sorry, i know for many his death is a tragedy, but for many others he always was a joke.
  • I am shocked at some of the crap that my friend's husband is spouting on FB about Michael Jackson. If you have nothing nice to say.. then shut the "f" up I feel.
  • I think everyone is having mixed feelings about his death. Older people grew up with Jackson5 and his music and recognized him as a great artist. They are the ones mourning his death more. The younger people recognize him most for his numerous crimes and serious makeovers, and therefore see him mostly as a joke. Those people mostly don't think much of his death or feel a bit of "good ridance". But like I said, everyone has mixed feelings about this.
  • Making jokes about anyones death is pretty awful but thats the nature of mankind! Just go with how you feel and ignore everything else! I wasn't a huge fan but i did have admiration for some of his work, some of his songs were truly inspirational. Sometimes though his antics could be a little bizare to us, but he had his reasons for them, It was HIS life to live, after all we all do things our own way.
  • I think he was an unconvited child molester.
  • He was also a nut job who didn't have to live by a civilized societies rules because of his fame and money Adolf Hitler did somethings well, created the autobahn, united Germany after wwi, etc, but he was a monster, there is very compelling evidence that Jacko was a pedophile, a monster, If Adolf died today would be saying no one is recognising him for the things he was good at, even though he was a monster who want to exterminate everyone who wasn't like him The truth is the truth, Jacko's lifestyle killed him
  • People are going to be nasty about all sorts of things and against others. That is life. I read some people who have training with pedophiles state they believe he was guilty, I, myself, have training in that area and can state that I do not believe that he did. I believe the lifestyle he lead from a very young age, the pressure of being black, mental illness recognized but ignored because he was a money maker.. contributed to his desire to live child-like. The innocence of a child is a beautiful thing and I believe he thought in his mind he could achieve it regardless that he never had a real childhood and it was unrealistic that he could later on. I do believe greedmongers used their own to be put in the limelight. People called him all sorts of things but overlook the people who cried wolf yet when investigated they were 100% unfounded .. and yet,he paid them because he was devastated that they used their children to do such things. Paying them off had nothing to do with guilt in those situations, it had to do with giving them what they wanted to stop what they were doing for the kids. People are sickened by the rumors, I am sickened by the greed. He was sick but not in the ways people pick in my opinion. He was a great musician but I am not offended by the people who trash talk and call him a molestor. The man has peace now. Peace from ugly talking people, peace from the media, peace from his own mind. RIP
  • 1) "In the early 1980s, [Michael Jackson] became a dominant figure in popular music and the first African American entertainer to amass a strong crossover following on MTV. The popularity of his music videos airing on MTV, such as "Beat It", "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" — widely credited with transforming the music video from a promotional tool into an art form — helped bring the relatively new channel to fame. Videos such as "Black or White" and "Scream" made Jackson an enduring staple on MTV in the 1990s. With stage performances and music videos, Jackson popularized a number of physically complicated dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk. His distinctive musical sound and vocal style influenced many hip hop, pop and contemporary R&B artists. While Jackson was a member of Generation Jones, he had an impact on multiple generations." Source and further information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Jackson 2) I was surprised and shocked from his early and sudden passing. I think that it is important that we keep a certain form of respect for the dead, also for those that we did not like particularly. • A Father, Son & Brother: King of Soul! Respect.
  • I think that the nature and content of your question show that the 92 in your screen name likely refer to your birth year, don't they? being young you lack perspective on other performers, some of whom have many years more of work and a larger body of work. Louie Armstrong comes to mind, Benny Goodman, Bob Hope, George Burns, Houdini, Otis Redding, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Elvis, Jim Morisson(in one third MJ's time). As entertainers , The family IS remarkable, as individuals, none are world changing.
  • Some people make jokes at anything, at any time. I received the first email joke about 9/11 within minutes of the second plane hitting. I received jokes about Arabs getting killed in the Iraq war while it was going on.
  • I think with all the negative media over the last years of his life people forget about how he use to be...when he was young...on Good Times...in the Jackson Five...when he was innocent...it's too bad that he will be remembered by what the media portrayed him as during the last years of his life...
