  • I was like 5 or 6 maybe and saw a mockumentary of Bigfoot (and because I was 5 or 6 I didn't realize it was fiction) and it definitely scared me. I wouldn't say it scarred me though.
  • Any movies about zombies. I used to love those movies when I was like 4 years old. They scared the shit out of me and gave me nightmares. Finally my mom convinced me to not watch them anymore. I don't know why she let me watch them in the first place being a 4 year old. She would take me to the movie rental place and I would pick them out. What a strange kid I was. A couple other movies that scared me a lot were The Blob and later on, Arachnophobia.
  • The Exoricst scared me so bad. To this day I've never seen the ending.
  • Chitty Chitty Bang bang - I loved it, until the Child Catcher scenes, didn't like that one little bit!

  • Sorry - -feel free not to give points [ I already answered this question elsewhere] but the TV movie "Trilogy of Terror" with Karen Black? Three separate stories, the last with that little Zulu warrior doll that comes alive and chases Black all over the place with his little spear? Whew! and another TV movie - " Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, " with Kim Darby and Jim Hutton -- they buy an old house and these "little creatures" start scaring Kim Darby but no one will believe her that the creatures exist? Both are great moments in TV films!
  • YES!!! Night of the Living Dead...the black and white one. I'm still scared to death of zombies, yet strangely obsessed with them.
  • Jaws. My father took me when I was six years old. We had to leave halfway through the movie.

  • I can remember watching Mars Attacks when I was around 8 and I was scared to death, had nightmares for over a month. I watched it again when I was 15 and laughed my ass off, partly because of the movie but more because I was so scared of it as a young child ha.
  • "Awakening". I had nightmares for a long time.
  • It was a movie about a professor that would give his women a bell bracelet, and then let a gorilla out and it would follow the noise and kill her. I was 6 and to this day - it's the scariest movie I ever saw. Don't even know the name of it.
    • MystMoonstruck
Your movie is "Phantom of the Rue Morgue" (1954). http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/27261/Phantom-of-the-Rue-Morgue/
  • House on Haunted Hill
  • I cannot recall the title of it offhand, was an alien abduction movie supposedly based on an actual event. Three guys driving home, see a UFO, stop and get out to take a look and one gets abducted and returned a day or two later? I remember the bit where he flashed back to the happenings on the ship scared the bejesus out of me as I was pretty young when I saw it. I slept with the lights on for a couple of weeks as with them out I kept having nightmares about it. The funny thing is, looking back on it, it was a pretty corny movie, but then as a child that didn't really process at the time.
    • MystMoonstruck
That's "Fire in the Sky" (1993). It does have some creepy scenes in it.

  • The Neverending Story, the wolf terrified me
  • 'The Return of the Living Dead'. The thing is I was too young to understand the concept of the horror-comedy... and only saw the horror in it.
  • Steven King's "The Hand" had nightmares for years!
  • i was at a sleepover and we watched the buggyman and we were really scared the whole night! every little bump in the night we would scream! her mom was so mad at us!
  • yup!!!The Nightmare on Elm St. series and April fools
  • For sure 'Gremlins' when I was a little kid. I used to think that those ugly green ones were sitting around a little bon fire under my bed and if my ankle got too close to the side of the bed they would grab it! So I used to take a running start and jump into bed! LOL I don't think I have ever told anyone that! So silly!!
  • Motel Hell, The Children(1980), Alien, and The Howling.
  • As a kid, many moons (decades) ago, it was some very old movie where this guy walks down the stairs with his head in one hand and an axe in the other. Then I saw the movie, the Exorcist - I won't even allow that film in my home now!
  • "It" by Stephen King.
  • Yes! The movie Candy Man scared me. And the movie itself wasn't so bad, but his voice terrified me! Also, Arachnophobia. I still have nightmares about it, to this day. :(
  • As a born and raised Catholic "THe Exorcist" still creeps me out, but terrified us kids and teens watching it downstairs in the basement bedroom we had.
  • One of the scariest movies I saw as a child was Ammityville Horror. That was such a creepy movie to see as a kid. The original movie was so much better that any of the new movies.
  • My very first movie was the Wizard of Oz. I would hide behind the chair that we had in our living room. I was scared to death that those flying monkeys were going to come off of the Tv and take me. Now that sounds so stupid. But at the time I was only five.
  • The Exorcist here too! Oh, and JAWS, I think because my sister tortured me with it LOL I slept with her the night I watched it and used her thumb as a squeezing post, she couldn't write at school for the next couple of days because of me :). But my Mom was a horror movie fanatic and would scare the pants off of us anytime she could. We lived in a community that didn't have many street lights and we had a lot of land, there was a road behind us that they nicknamed "Spooky Hollow", when my Mom used to use that road to get home from somewhere I would say "do it, Mom, do it" and she would say, no Nor, not today. Then all of a sudden, her eyes would change and she would look like a total maniac, she would start saying "I'm not your Mom" in this weird voice that totally wasn't hers and her eyes would be really wild and wide, and she would say it over and over again then all of a sudden, she would slam the brakes on and say "if you think I'm your Mom, stay in the car, if you don't think I'm your Mom, get out" and believe me, you wouldn't know what to do. She would finally stop when I was crying and screaming at the top of my lungs, sounds mean but I asked for it LOL Oh, then there were other times that she scared us, like one day, my sister and her friends went to the movies and my Mom picked them up. Before leaving, she put on that Mary Kay oatmeal mask and some other items on her face, while my cousin Darrin watched her (he's now an Army man) and when it was time for us to leave, he was scared to go but my Grandmom made him, my sister always had to sit in the front so as she came barreling out of the movies, she ran right for the front, she got in and started trying to tell our Mom how the movie was, my Mom turned to her and said "I'm not your Mom", my sister flew to the way back of the car (it was a station wagon, pinto I think) and started crying, God, those were some good times!! Sorry for writing so much but I took a stroll down memory and wanted to take all of you with me!
  • Child's Play scared me a lot for a long time during my child hood, even then it did not stopped me from seeing Part-1, 2 & 3. I think we should not show scary movies to our children as they have negative physiological effect on them.
  • so sorry! I meant an oliver stone movie "The Hand"
  • how about chucky and freddy cuger
  • I am still scarred from watching a movie called "Burnt Offerings". It was in the 70s. OMG, I scared myself talking about it, and I haven't seen it in 35 years!
