• The US debts are direct liabilities of the US government. You can find information on the US debt at the following site. You can find the US debt figure at the following site. It lists the total US debt as $8,768,614,254,781.88 I believe as of Feb 22. Another good link but with stale figures is the following brochure printed by the Government Accountability Office. In looking at other countries you could look at the country's debt versus their GDP. The CIA factbook shows the US debt at 64.7% of GDP while Canada is 65.4%, the UK is 42.2%, France is 67.4%. I don't know how the debt load is trending for each country but most countries have a central bank (like the US Treasury) that publishes reports on the debt load. This site has links to some of the central banks around the world.
