On April 15, 1912. It hit the iceberg on April 14 though, while sailing south of the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. The last lifeboat left the ship at 02:05 on April 15th. At 02:18, the ship began to split in two and the completely flooded bow started to fall away into the depths. The stern began its death plunge at 02:20. The ship began her maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York, USA on April 10, 1912, with Edward Smith as its captain.
