  • Your question is unclear. What cheaper off-road diesel? Please clarify.
  • Heavily discounted diesel fuel usually has a very high contaminant level, so If I were you buying discounted fuel, I would make sure to have no less than 2 spare fuel filter cartridges with me, especially for off-roading, as the excessive motion tends to keep the contaminants in suspension.
  • Off road diesel fuel is cheaper because it is designated for use in construction equipment and doesn't carry the taxes applied by the government for road use. Use of this fuel in vehicles licensed for road use is a crime and punishable by fines up to $10,000. It has nothing to do with fuel grade, only taxes. I personally know 2 people who have been caught using this untaxed fuel, and they paid a heavy price for it. Not worth the risk, I assure you.
  • techniclly you can run a deisel on "red deisel" or heating oil. leagally no. btw my friends cousins half brother puts heating oil in his old rabbit. she runs alot better on the less purifies fuels. a few gallons of kerosene in the tank will "clean up" the fuel and give a decent cetane boost
