...let their kids play outside without supervision... From the time they got home from school (and maybe did their homework) until suppertime, and sometimes after. ...REALLY... Walk or ride their bikes to school, a mile away from their home, in ALL types of weather. (TWICE A DAY! We came home for lunch, too. One day, it was 15 degrees out, wind enough to snow SIDEWAYS, and snow about 4-6" deep already when I walked home AGAINST THE WIND for lunch. Mom "made" me stay home from school for the afternoon.) ...watch all their shows on MAYBE three channels (the networks), and all in black and white. ...pay only 35-40 cents a gallon for gas (and THAT was expensive!) ...buy PENNY candy, usually 5 for a penny! ...buy comic books for 10 cents apiece! ...go to church every Sunday, and sometimes on certain Holidays! ...fail, and be "held back" in school! ...WORK for their money...

Physically work harder. At least that's the way I seen it. Here's just a few Examples of what it was back then on a farm. And what its like today. Axe <to> Chainsaw. Washboard <to> Washing Machine. Garden <to> Grocery store. Team of mules/horses <to> Air-conditioned tractors. Home made clothes <to> clothes bought in stores. Split cider post <to> steel post. Pick&shovel <to> hi-lift bucket. Motorless lawn mower to wireless remote control mower. Can goods <to> store bought ones. Homemade meal <to> precooked one. Discipline children <to> fearing to. Self made entertainment <to> PC/TV. Stay home & get a good nights sleep, after a full days physical work. <to> Staying up all night playing here on these PC's, & not getting enough sleep. Stay physical fit <to> Being sick & over weight all the time....... We'll that was just a few examples of how the times have changed. I myself do most of the first & a little of the second.
