I found recommendations for using salt and/or white vinegar in wash cycle to help keep black/dark clothes from fading.....how much is recommended per wash cycle....

When using vinegar, it is suggested that you add 1/2 cup to the washer, the FIRST time an item is washed to help set the color. Some who dye material will use vinegar to stabilize the color. The other way to do it is add 1/2 C vinegar, 1/2 C salt to 1/2 gallon of water and soak the item for an hour. Again, this is to stabilize and keep the original dye not to regain color.
