  • The average life expectancy in the past was far lower than it is now, true. Probably around 40. However, keep in mind this is the AVERAGE life expectancy. The fact that the infant mortality rate was so high strongly influenced the average.
  • You have a misunderstanding. People didnt live shorter lives back in the day they lived the same amount out time 70's 80's. However the statistical "average life span" was probably much lower because of infant mortality and just generally all the sicknesses out there. People dont live longer now. Someone who dies of natural causes would like died around 70-80 jist as they would today i believe
