Can you ever truly make up for lost time? I've been in contact with my half-sister for over a year and, although we talk often, I don't feel much closer to her. I admitted to her that I still feel a distance between us. A mistake, perhaps?

Part of it is that I see her activity on social networking sites, her closeness with our mutual first cousin, with whom she grew up, and, even though she's never been mean toward me, I feel some envy/jealousy. Also, our mother passed away a few months ago, and I recently sent some of her items to my sister. I wonder if that just opens up a sore she might not have ever dealt with sufficiently, or if I gave her closure; I tried to update her as best I could on our mother as she lay dying.
