  • More than likely it has something to do with how you have toe songs saved. Some music I have downloaded (all totally legal ya know...) the artist will not show up in the artist column on iTunes and there for does not show up on my iPod either unless I type in the artist manually in the proper column. That would be the First thing I would check, if that doesn't work delete the song and try to reload it.
  • all mp3's or m4a's (the two most used formats for songs with itunes) have what are called id3 tags on them. These are basically just bits of code within the mp3 itself that holds information like who the song is by and what album it is from and even album artwork. Your ipod reads these id3 tags in order to categorize your artists and give you info about what song is playing. If however, the id3 tags are missing information (in this case it is the artist) then the ipod will not know who it is by and thus won't be able to make it show up in the artist category. Luckily adding this information is easy. All you do is rename the artist or title or any column of any song in your itunes library and that will change the id3 tag. So unfortunately you will have to go in and add the missing artist information yourself in order for it show up correctly on your ipod, but in some cases itunes can obtain the information itself if you tell it to.
  • If the song was a downloaded mp3, it won't have the same neat artist and title listing as a song that comes from a CD. You will have to go into iTunes and rename the song, but I am not sure how to do that.
