Most commercial airliners holding less than 150 passengers (i.e. Boeing 737, Airbus A319, and the Canadair Regional Jet) have 6 wheels. Their set up in a standard tricycle landing gear configuration, 2 wheels on each of 2 main landing gear and 2 typically slightly smaller wheels on a nose gear. Larger "jumbo" jets have more wheels and a wider variety of landing gear configurations to distribute the weight. The 747 has 18 wheels. Each of the four main landing gears has 4 wheels in an arrangement called "trucks" with only 2 nose wheels. The new A380 has 22 wheels. The standard 2 nose wheels and 2 main landing gear with 4 wheels per truck and an additional 2 trucks with 6 wheels each.
