I think it's just a natural part of life. So when they grow up, they'll have an idea of how to handle the real world. And there are also many other things the kids need to knwo also, but this is a part of it!

I'd probably have to say jealousy. One gets more attention than another or one gets blamed for more things than the other. Even though it does depend a lot on the siblings.

A smarter little sister?! ;-)

Living together. A lot of people are saying jealousy, unequal treatment... The fact that my brother and I have moved out hasn't changed that my father likes my brother more. But my brother and I don't fight now. sharing space, sharing time, sharing freaking 2 day car trips, sharing the computer...

Parent's playing favorites. And of course you have the age old adage, "Familiarity breeds contempt". Is that a pun? I think it is! :)

I never fought with my sister and we are 8 years apart...and I have 3 kids the two oldest are 15 months apart and had absolutely no problems til the youngest of the two hit 13...now the youngest on the other hand, fought with them both...I think it may have been survival?...I think it really depends on how they are raised...if the squeaky wheel gets the grease there will be more sibling rivalry...if fighting brings consequences they both will not like then there will be less rivalry...
