Plenty of small electric motors in a junked car. Try a window motor--they seem to be geared down to a good speed for moving around--and they're reversable! If you have to compromise for some of the parts, Jameco.com and Edmund Scientific http://www.edsci.com/ have motors and reducers that you can look at, as well.
