  • My experience with rabbits is that they can get the darndest of conditions and die from them before you or they knew what hit them. It could be sooooo many things: from ecephalitis (and a million things can cause this in rabbits), to your brain tumor to an aneurysm to an abscess. Unfortunately, the only way to know for sure would have been a necropsy. Either way, though, your bunny probably did not suffer. I'm sorry for your loss; it's happened to me, too. But your bunny died as a loved pet and that's all he ever would have wanted. <3
  • Is your vet a rabbit specialists? In my experience, brain tumors are not all that common in rabbits. In 40 years I've never had one case and I used to raise them commercially. I've known one friend who had something similar to your rabbit. I've heard of a few rabbits getting encephalitis and that sounds closer to what it might have been, but I'm not a vet. You could have asked them to autopsy it for you. Some skin cancer types may occur or the most common is uterine cancer. But these usually don't affect behavior.
