If you mean: modernish, realistic military movie, I'll go with The Great Escape. If you mean modernish, realistic combat, I'll go with Saving Private Ryan or The Bridge on the River Kwai. If we are going with ANY sort of realistic combat, I'll go with Lawrence of Arabia. And if we allow scifi and fantasy, I'll go with Starship Troopers. (I don't care what the critics say, I loved that movie.)
