What I find very helpful when adversity hits is the Book of Job. He lost almost everything but gained twice as much back, because of his faith in Yahweh God.

See the Lilies of the field. They neither labor or toil yet are arrayed in such splendor. If God so clothes that which is here today and tomorrow thrown in the fire then how much more will He cloth you of little faith.
