    I see nothing wrong with putting effort in and having pride for how you dress or look. how you present yourself in this world be it when meeting a potential mate or prospective employer is how we are judged a lot of times. People can take it too far, but there's all kinds of narcissists out there, not just ones that care too much about how they look or dress.
