  • My fave is Drift Away by Dobie Gray. It helps you find comfort through music when you're down. It did for me anyway.
  • Free Money by Patti Smith. Its more to do with the way she sings it than anything about the lyrics- I remember first hearing it when I was nineteen and just being blown away that someone could pour that much raw passion into something- her energy just pours out of the CD player like its infectious. It sends shivers up my spine everytime I hear it, kind of makes you want to start a revolution. "We're dreamin' for free..."
  • WOW! That is really a tough question...I am going to have to say.....at this moment in time my favorite song is Boston by Augustana...I love this song because it is super catchy with awesome piano and the words are amazing as well....I really want to move to Boston too...
  • At the moment (and it usually changes very frequently), my favourite is Streets of Philidelphia by Bruce Springsteen. It is kind of depressing, but I love it. When you feel down, it sort of makes you feel that you're not alone, and everything's going to be okay. Oh, and I love This Womans Work, by Kate Bush, she has a fabulous voice and the song is quite inspirational, for want of a better word.
  • My favourite song is behind blue eyes by the who, but only the first two minutes because it is so full of emotion! Love that song! oh, and paranoid by black sabbath coz it's the first sabbath song I ever heard. and lola by the kinks because they are my favourite band in the world ^^. And it's only rock n roll by the stones because it's legendary. and supermassive black hole by muse because i FINALLY found out the song name coz it woz drivin me insane!
  • Most people have never heard of any of my favorite songs... and I have about a million of them! As far as someone most people have heard of-- "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd. It's very deep and thought-provoking. Listening to it will give you reason enough. Allow me to post some lyrics, so you can see for yourself, why. **Wish You Were Here** So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, Blue skys from pain. Can you tell a green field From a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? And did they get you to trade Your heros for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange A walk on part in the war For a lead role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.
  • At the moment it's "The Wall " by Johny Cash. I can realy identifie with it I normaly hate country music, but I like Johny Cash and identifie with that song in perticular because I've been trying to escape from the prison that is Houston for seven years and I still can't make that wall.

  • Extraordinary Liz Phair. I like the music and anyone who calls herself an "average everyday sane psycho supergoddess" is OK in my book. The First Circle - by Pat Metheny because it's a great piece of music. "Regret" - New Order. The music. Duran Duran - Come Undone. Music. In fact, it's always the music. Tears for Fears - The Working Hour and Everybody Wants to Rule the World. Satellite -Dave Matthews Band, Friday - The Cure. Photograph - Def Leppard Windmills - Toad the Wet Sprocket. Anything Don Henley sings. It's the voice.

  • Little Bones: Been my fave for quite a few years now, cause it rocks! And I love The Hip! They are absolutely, positively the most addictive band I have ever listened to. And my taste has been all over the place. It gets so sticky down here Better butter your cue-finger up It's the start of another new year Better call the newspaper up two fifty for a hi-ball, And buck and a half for a beer Happy hour, happy hour Happy hour is here The long days of Shockley are gone So is football Kennedy style Famous last words taken all wrong Wind up on the very same pile two fifty for a decade And a buck and a half for a year Happy hour, happy hour Happy hour is here I can cry, beg and whine Tell every Rebel I find Just to give me a line I could use to describe They'd say, "Baby eat this chicken slow it's full of all them little bones" So regal and decadent here Coffin cheaters dance on their graves Music, all it's delicate fear Is the only thing that don't change two fifty for an eyeball And a buck and a half for an ear Happy hour, happy hour Happy hour is here Nothing's dead down here, just a little tired Nothing's dead down here, just a little tired Nothing's dead down here, just a little tired "Baby eat this chicken slow It's full of all them little bones" Listen for yourself: http://www.thehip.com/Videos.html#
  • My favorite, of all time (and this is a tough call, but -- hands down I can't think of any that ever move me to want to sing along as much and also hope) would have to be John Lennon's "Imagine". I think that "Imagine" was the most earthy we ever got out of John (very stripped down and acoustic piano and vocals). I also think the words to it, are still thought provoking and necessary to think about where the world is these days and where it maybe should go. What I mean is the part where John sings about imaging a world where "there is no heaven, no hell below us, above us only sky ..." and also the part of imaging a world where "there is no countries ..." and also "there is no greed, no need for hunger ..." and also imaging a world where people don't just care about getting and achieving money (and as though they worship it). "Imagine all the people, sharing all the world. You may say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will live as one". Now, I know some don't believe John could ever live up to those lofty notions, either, but I think probably he could have. And also that it sounds like a form of socialism, and maybe that's true, but I also think John wrote about a future (that I wish we could still achieve thirty five years after John had a top three hit with the song) that is not to unsimiliar to the one presented in Gene Roddenberry's vision of the future in my favorite TV shows of all time, "Star Trek".
  • "How Deep Is Your Love" by the Bee Gees because it's soooo romantic and the mixing is excellent.
  • "The Village Green Preservation Society" by The Kinks......my gosh, i could listen to it a million times, it would never be enough! It's fresh, simple, easy to play and sing, and it always makes me happier than before the song started
  • i change favourite songs all the time but right now its: Tilly and the wall - Bad Education Bright Eyes - A perfect sonnet Pixies - Wave of mutilation & Hey Placebo - all!!!!!
  • I love this bar by Toby Keith, what a great song with the best video clip. What I wouldn't give to be in that bar having the best time....
  • Don't Worry, Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin It reminds me to calm down, refocus and take it easy....they ought to play this song during rush hour on our way home from work! :) Perhaps there would be less road rage and more smiling motorists. This song came out when I was a freshman in college and was my mantra for a very stresful time in my life--being lonely, away from home, anxious etc. The simplicity of the song makes it appealing. The video is so funny--who could resist a goofy Robin Williams clowning around? Don't Worry, Be Happy Sung By Bobby Mcferin Here's a little song I wrote You might want to sing it note for note Don't worry, be happy In every life we have some trouble But when you worry you make it double Don't worry, be happy Don't worry, be happy now Don't worry, be happy Don't worry, be happy Don't worry, be happy Don't worry, be happy Ain't got no place to lay your head Somebody came and took your bed Don't worry, be happy The landlord say your rent is late He may have to litigate Don't worry, be happy Don't worry, be happy Don't worry, be happy, Don't worry, be happy Don't worry, be happy, Don't worry, be happy

  • "Over my Head (Cable Car)" by The Fray. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOTlYzCbQQk] (Click on the high quality link) As of now, this song has been my favorite for a very long time. That is how I usually come to liking songs. ***You may have seen many answers to this question from myself and others, I believe it is because of duplicate questions being deleted. Then, of course, they (the staff) integrate the answers which would bring them all to the question they decided to keep.

  • Currently, my favorite song is: B.B. King and Eric Clapton Riding With The King I dreamed I had a good job and I got well paid. I blew it all at the penny arcade. A hundred dollars on a kewpie doll. No pretty chick is gonna make me crawl. Get on a TWA to the promised land. Every woman, child and man Gets a Cadillac and a great big diamond ring. Don't you know you're riding with the king? He's on a mission of mercy to the new frontier, He's gonna check us all on out of here. Up to that mansion on a hill Where you can get your prescription filled. Get on a TWA to the promised land. Everybody clap your hands. And don't you just love the way that he sings? Don't you know we're riding with the king? Riding with the king. Don't you know we're riding with the king? A tuxedo and shiny 335. You can see it in his face, the blue never lie. Tonight everybody's getting their angel wings. And don't you know we're riding with the king? I stepped out of Mississippi when I was ten years old With a suit cut sharp as a razor and a heart made of gold. I had a guitar hanging just about waist high And I'm gonna play this thing until the day I die. Don't you know we're riding with the king? Don't you know we're riding with the king? Riding, you're riding with the king. You're riding, you're riding with the king.
