There were about 900 in my graduating class. I was in the top 20 or so academically, but the rankings that were important in those days were the athletes. We had several All-State winners, and they were all the news. I was a semi-finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program.

I was 3 out of 536. My roommate in college was the valedictorian, and the girl at 2 went to MIT and made fun of us for going to a state school. We got the last laugh, though, as she's in crippling debt going into grad school.
-
I'm number 6 of 147. My GPA is 4.11 and the valedictorian's is 4.17. I'm still a senior in high school, by the way.

11th of 477. My Dad wanted to know why I f***ed around and didn't make top 10. I don't know what his problem was; I got a full scholarship to a very good school, plus a state regents scholarship that paid for my books. Sheesh.

For the record, my graduating class was 265 people and I was 10th. If you weighted the averages for AP-level classes, which my school at the time did not, I would have been 4th.
-
There will be about 250 students in my graduating class. My school doesn't do ranks, but if they did I'm sure I would be somewhere in the middle. Sure, I'm smart enough to be at the top....I just don't try.
-
Oh goodness. Let's see if I remember this. I think we had 417 people in my graduating class. I think I was 6th . . . or was it 7th . . . or was it 5th . . . I'm thinking 6th is right . . .

Two hundred students +or- 2 or 3. That was '72. Last year they had under 100. The town hasn't lost population, but many kids are now sent to private/parochial high schools.
