If there is high humidity in the room where your fondant covered cake is, the fondant can become too soft and if the cake was stored in the refrigerator before being put in the humid room it could sweat. A too dry environment can make the fondant too firm. If you begin to notice condensation on the cake after bringing it out of the refrigerator you can place the cake in front of a fan, being sure to turn the cake frequently. Fondant that has colored decorative work can bleed the colors if it sweats. It helps to place the cake in an air conditioned room.
