No, he was comparing his power to Madara Uchiha's. Think about it, he only has sharingan in his right eye and Obito Uchiha gave Kakashi the sharingan in his left eye when he supposubly "died". It all adds up to Tobi being Obito.

Tobi is Madara uchiha, though obito is there too, as Madara is just not goofy at all. Most likely, Madara found Obito's body or maybe the Akatsuki found obito's body and fixed it up for Madara, but Madara is not happy with Obito's underdeveloped sharingan, as madara developed the mangekyo sharingan and was the one who trained itachi to kill the uchihas, as madara wanted a clan genocide. Madara is waiting until all the tailed beasts are sealed to act as he believes that he can attain the mangekyo sharingan once all 9 beasts are sealed, including naruto.

This has yet to be confirmed, but I have thought a lot about it, and I really know who Tobi's identity. Jaraiya fought the 6 peins, and before he dissapeared into the water, he said that he found the secret of pein, and he wrote it and left it to ma toad, and she is trying to get the note to tsunade, though the peins are trying to capture or kill her. Jaraiya figured out that nagato wasn't with the peins, and that was what he wrote on that note. The main pein is yahiko, nagato's best friend, and that is why pein(s) listen to tobi, not to mention the fact that nagato's rinnegan move might keep the peins in line. Tobi is jaraiya's rain student, nagato, (and nagato was the one who killed the rain kage, Henzo) and nagato is invincible because he stole a uchiha's eye, though madara uchiha stole both of his bro's eyes and madara is both invincible and immortal. Obito's eyes are shared between nagato (tobi) and kakashi, and kakashi, though he may not know that he is, he is immortal, though he can be hurt, as extended use of the sharingan and especially the mangekyo sharingan makes him bedridden. Nagato chose to look like a resurrected obito, as obito would only have one eye left, as kakashi has the other one. If you can find pictures of kakashi and tobi, the sharingan eyes are in different sockets (Tobi has his on the right and kakashi has his on the left). Nagato chose to name his disguise tobi to either mock the memory of obito or maybe to taunt and tease kakashi, and this taunting is doubly effective, especially since nagato can't be attacked thanks to his invincible transplanted sharingan. This invincibility came in handy when deidera blew up, as tobi would have died without that eye. This is also why naruto's attack fazed through tobi. Also, nagato acts stupid to keep under the radar with the akatsuki, for they might not know that tobi is nagato. Tobi's claim was not that he was madara, but more that he had the power of madara, and he does in a way. Madara is invincible, and nagato also has a transplanted sharingan, and he is invincible too. It is important to remind you that madara has two transplanted sharingan eyes, and madara is both invincible and immortal, and nagato is only invincible, with the immortality eye transplanted by rin from obito to kakashi in the rock country mission with minato namikaze, who would be the future 4th hokage.

I beleieve he is supposde to be Madara Uchia, the supposed to be invincible Ninja, in Naruto.

Actually, it is believed that Obito (after his "death") was founded by Zetsu and "brainwashed" to believe he was Madara Uchiha. He resumed the name Tobi to keep his identity a secret, but that apparently didn't work with Itachi in the 398 chapter. - -' (This is not my theory, it's my friends and it's ... somewhat reasonable)

i would like to say something, tobi and obito have the same letters but obito has an extra o but it is one of my theory that tobi is obito but he has taken a different name but used the same letters. so obito could have just move around the letters and get tobi.

tobi is madaea...........he admits it quite a few times in the manga, and people call him madara a lot too

i would like to say that obito and tobi both have most of the same letters, where if tobi is obito he could have simply change a few letters around but on google images i looked up akatsuki and it show tobi as actually obito but with two eyes while its impossible because obito gave one of his sharigan eyes to kakashi but them it could be mandara who took obito body and changed himself to look like him

tobi is madara uchiha, the founder and former leader of the uchiha clan, he said so himself and has been referred to as such. but we're still not sure of the obito theory because there are clear similarities between the 2. we must wait till that's revealed :S

Tobi is Obito.... and he claims himself as Uchiha Madara. He was saved by Fourth Hokage with Jumper Technique (Space Time Ninjutsu) and now he is The Leader of Akatsuki but still subordinate of Yondaime (Fourth Hokage) Yondaime still ALIVE!!!

Alright, here's my theory. Tobi is Madara and the leader of the akatsuki. However, for him to have survived so long, he must have been transferring into other bodies, like Orochimaru was going to. I think he used the jutsu to transfer into Obito's body for some reason. That would explain why he only has one eye, and possibly why he acts like Obito at times.

This is rumor is spread by Obito=Tobi conspiracy theorist. :-) They got this theory because if you can see, Tobi only shown a hole in his right eye so they assume that his left eye is gone. Obito gave his left eye to Kakashi (this is the reason why Kakashi got his sharingan left eye) right before he died. These people also argued that Obito's body was never found. Tobi is Madara Uchiha. An Uchiha who turned his back on Konoha because he and the First Hokage differed in opinion on how to run the village.

kakashi is not immortal he died and tobi is madara because how could tobi use the space/time technique and use ameratsu plus to give someone an eye in naruto that person must die so tobi is madara

the real identity of tobi is Uchida Madara, he the actual leader of akatsuki not pain, he's not Uchida Obito. He died from a earth landslide jutsu from a hidden rock clan ninja, he saved kakashi and rin lives and gave his sharingan to kakashi as well.

I think that Tobi is Obito. I don't know which chapter it was is but you see the right side of tobi and you see nails. Those nails I believe are holding his body up and securing his right side while it heals. Also his mask is drawing attention to his right eye. Obito had transplanted his left eye to kakashi so his right eye theoretically should still be there and intact. Also he only said that he had Uchiha Madara's power so that knocks out that option. Besides type tobi's name three times. tobitobitobi. you clearly see the name obito in it.

tobi is definitely Madara Uchiha, the founder of the uchiha clan and konoha (along with the first hokage) there are rumours that he's obito because of similar appearances but that is yet to be comfirmed

uhmm okk...ive been really confused about who is who fopr along time now. but i got proof on how tobi is madara. if you read manga 397 youll see tobi say how is is madara and when he fought the first hokage he didnt really die even thought everyone and the first hokage thought he was.

YO you guys i got a new improved theory. Both madara and obito are dead. So, it makes no sense if it's either of them. (plus obito's eye was crushed by a giant rock)I think it's danzou trying to stir shit up by saying he's madara because as little of you obviously knew he has a sharingan implanted in his right eye!!!!! Thats what the bandage covers up. He also has motive and a similar hair style!!! the theory that madara is using obito's body is just retarded because obito dies as a child but the body is full grown!!!the mask is to hide danzou identity.(naruto staff is just messing with you to surprise you.
