  • Reflectix by itself adds an R value of 3.6, if the job was done properly, sealing the edges and such, it adds a total R value of 16. Whether it is worth the cost... depends on a number of things, like how much it cost you to do it. Is your weather severe enough that even a 3.6 added R value, (worst case) offsets the heating and or cooling required for the space enough to pay for it? You do the math, I'm no math wiz. If in fact you got the whole R 16 worth out of it, it should probably be worth the cost. If in fact you did, it might cause another problem, it stops air infiltration almost entirely if done right, so you have to have a system that adds fresh air to the mix not just recycles interior air all the time. If bathrooms are next to such exterior walls, it could cause or alleviate mold problems, depending on you climate. So, if you do the math, you can figure it out.
