Because we have too much food. We don't only eat for survival. People who eat for survival do not go to sleep afterward. When we were training for Iraq, they asked us, "If you found litter left behind by the enemy, indicating they'd just eaten, what would that mean?" We all answered that they'd be sleeping, but actually it would mean that they are energized and ready to fight. And that's how they would view any litter we would have left behind.
