Oh yes, definitely. (: I have very poor eyesight, so before I got my contacts I had to watch and learn people's posture and walk, so I could easily locate them amongst my super blurry vision. I still use that helpful tactic now, when I don't have my contacts in.

Yes, with a lot of people actually! My mum's the easiest, she walks with her legs really far apart and swings her arm out to the side so it doesn't touch her body at all.... it's a diddy bit like John Wayne... ahh SHHHH I never said that! hehe sorry mum! x

Not just a relative! Some people have a very distinct way of walking. I could recognize them easily from a distance or even in poor light conditions.
-
This seems proof as to how unique we all truly are. I can spot my friends out in a crowd.
-
If I know the person, quite often yes. Otherwise there would have to be an unusual trait and I'd have to know what to look for.
-
No, I can barely recognize someone from a distance.
-
For some of my friends I can, and I can also tell by what they are wearing.
-
Yes, just by little things such as their postures and gait pattern. Things that you would be hard pushed to describe to someone else without looking, but can instantly recognise when they are walking from a distance. For instance, I have a slightly flexed neck and laterally rotate my right foot when I walk.
-
I can usually tell, in my family, who is walking down the hall by the sound of their walk.
-
Yes if I know the person quite well.

The following is a copy of an interesting paper written on the subject. Check it out. Very cool! Just click the image.

Yes, Also by their smell Breathing patterns even by stature alone voice Even by email sentence style sometimes with some people - its how the birds react

Absolutely.

No, because I am a little short sighted, but I rather do not wear glasses except by driving. I would not be so sure about it, just make some guesses.
-
YES! its amazing how once you get to know someone how you can recognize them by just seeing a shadow of them!
-
YES! I mean even just by how they stomp down the stairs...

-
Yes. I seem to notice a lot about people's mannerisms and think the differences are very interesting.
-
Not everyone, but a lot of people

Sure I can. Sometimes I remember the visual image of their posture and body position, and other times I remember the rhythmic motion. I am an amateur musician and I often remember the cadence and rhythm like music. It feels almost like a sort of synesthesia, and I can often remember it a long time. I am an amputee, and I use crutches instead of a prosthesis. Of course people recognize me easily from my walk. Strangers sometimes remember seeing me years later. I find that I am strongly attuned to the gaits of people with disabilities. I can often infer a lot about their mobility issues and solutions. I can also tell how skillful or experienced someone is and can guess if they have been disabled a long time. Thanks for a really interesting question.

I can recognize a person by their walk, simply from HEARING it.

I think I can tell if someone is either left handed or right by their walk,,don't ask how,but my guesses are pretty close to correct 90% of the time.

Years ago, I was called out on an alarm call. Motion detectors were set off. Little did I know that another was also called out. In the distance shadow, I saw a person move. I drew my weapon and was ready to use it. The other person had a distinctive walk. Fortunately, I knew who it was.

Many years ago, I was on an alarm call in a department store. I saw a shadowy figure and almost shot him. I was my partner who responded from a different direction. He had an unusual walk.
