  • A turtle CAN lose it's shell, but it's almost impossible. it WON'T grow back.
  • It would probably be a fatal event for the turtle to lose it's shell as it's spine is fused to the shell at the neck. If a turtle lost it's shell, it would be the same as you losing your spine from shoulders down -- and without the nerve bundles to tell your heart to beat and lungs to breath (as well as other bodily functions) -- you (or the turtle) would die.
  • I always thought a shelled turtle was a dead turtle, same as for snails, because it grows out of their skin like our fingernails so it would hurt like ripping all their skin off.
