The "dumb blonde" stereotype has been around for awhile. It used to be really prevalent in American society. I don't hear about it so much any more. I don't know when or where or why the stereotype started, but it was certainly fodder for a million "dumb blonde" jokes over the years. 3/21/25

Stevo may have the point, blonde always linked with sexy, meant that they can act dumb to manipulate men into doing things for them, hence not having to learn. Same as glasses can be linked with intelligence on some, and being a geek on another. It's about the perceiver. "Blondes do have more fun." Certainly sold a lot of bleach.
