11stevo73 Some believe that Methuselah's extreme age is the result of an ancient mistranslation that converted "months" to "years. I think Methuselah lived 80 years and 9 months .

This means EVERYTHING was pure, including the water they drank and the food they ate. The answer has to do with "genetic deterioration." Before the flood, lifespans averaged more than 900 years. Immediately after the flood, lifespans averaged over 400 years, roughly cut in half. It was roughly cut in half again by the time of Abraham, just under 200 years. Finally by the time of David, lifetimes fell to what we know today. The long lives of Adam and his descendants illustrate the initial state of human perfection.
