Why do some people not fit in the norms of society?

Lol, The amount of times my friends and I have had an accident, or done something funny and found ourselves saying "Just act normal." Which is what I think most people are doing, acting normal. I don't even know what the norms are, I believe people reflect the society they live in, and more often than not it's society that sick, not the people, the people are all in differing stages as to whether to conform to what some may deem as the insane. Crikey, I never thought I'd find myself in a world where we couldn't define what a man and woman was, that was always obvious.
