  • Not in my lifetime. Even if I was offered all the money in the world I would not eat insects and cockroaches.
  • In my culture, there are several "bugs" that we have eaten historically. When the "rainbugs" started bouncing off the windows, grandma sent us out to pick them up and bring them into the house. She dropped them onto the hot woodstove and when the started to ooze oil and smell like popcorn, she brushed them off into a basket to cool slightly. She peeled them a bit and ate them likepopcorn. They taste like pinenuts. We had a yellowjackets nest in the yard one summer, and she built a fire over it at night and kept it cooking for awhile. She got a shovel and dug up the cooked hive and we ate the roasted larvae. I didn't like them much. I've also eaten the chocolate covered ants that were trendy for awhile when I was a kid. I didn't like them either. Crickets are supposed to be trendy now, but not cockroaches. I don't think I'll eat any more bugs at this point in my life, unless it's for a history lesson for the greatgrandkids.
