Are stick vacuums as good as upright vacuums?

Based on reviews I've read: (1) cordless vacuums are still not ready for prime-time (2) there are excellent corded stick vacuums available...as long as their more limited utility is sufficient for your needs. Shark stick vacuums are especially highly rated, and available at a reasonable price (other highly-rated corded stick vacuums are $$$) * Personally I have a Shark corded stick, and it does fine for my rather limited vacuum needs (bare floors, low-pile rug, occasional use as a corded hand-vac). Ordering accessories was problematic (they sent me the wrong accessory three times, finally admitted that the accessory I wanted was no longer available, and I had to order a slightly-used one from a third party after returning all three of the wrong items)
