Can an incandescent bulb rated at 12v DC be safely powered by AC at 10v?

it wont last it will work but it will be dull and wont last that long .

11stevo73 why does AC or DC matter to an incandesent globe can I ask? Never seeen a 10 volt rated globe eirther. do they exist? -
bostjan the adequate 🥉 Depends on the type of bulb. An incandescent bulb won't care, it just converts voltage into heat, and then heat into light. A cheap LED will convert forward current into light directly, but LED light bulbs generally contain a phosphor and a buffer, so AC power will typically still light them, even though they won't be nearly as efficient. 10 VAC is definitely not a common standard, but I've seen a few older items that use a step-down internal transformer and then use low voltage AC for indicator panel lights.
