the quote at the end of the movie is the end of danny's paper, Correct? The quote is a modified version of lincoln's inaugural address. it means that were are all equal, it just states lincoln's basic theory of mankind. hatred should not change how we really feel.

Here is the final quote: We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.' This quote sums up the transition the young man went through as he saw the wrong in his actions. "Though passion may have strained" is saying that our anger and misguided prejudices put a wall between us. The second part where he says "the mystic chords of memory will swell" he is saying that the better angels of our nature, people with the strength to lead us in what is right, will show us the error in our ways and help us to live as allies, not enemies. Abraham Lincoln wrote that piece shortly before he died.
